AU delegation concludes Burundi visit
Pretoria – The African Union (AU) delegation to Burundi – chaired by President Jacob Zuma – concluded its visit to that country on Friday, the presidency said.
The delegation, comprising five heads of state, had successfully concluded its deliberations in Burundi where they met President Pierre Nkurunziza, leaders of political parties, and religious and civil society leaders and urged them to work together to find an inclusive political solution to the current crisis in the country.
The members of the delegation are Zuma, Presidents Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania, Macky Sall of Senegal, Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon, and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia.
“We have had very fruitful and robust meetings with a cross-section of representatives of Burundi and we have just finished the last meeting with… Nkurunziza. All decisions of the visit will be communicated through the appropriate channels in a communique to be issued tomorrow [Saturday],” Zuma said.
